Today you will learn about VFDs. Specifically, what they are and when do we use them with automation and PLCs.
What exactly is a VFD? Well, it stands for Variable Frequency Drive. They are used for running an AC motor at variable speeds or let them ramp up their speed to give them a smooth startup.
Some people simply call them drives. They work by adjusting the frequency of the motor to adjust the rpms.

What is a VFD? (Variable Frequency Drive)
hello i just wanted to know if vfd can be use to operate the 50hz washing machine thank you
Well made video
Sir can you make video on VSD AND VFD?what are the difference between the 2?
Soft start nice
Your analogy of the capacitor being like a water filter is a poor one. The cap is there to resist Voltage sag if there is a load spike upon the rectifier. An apt analogy might would be an air bladder pressure tank in a water system there to maintain water pressure even if the putput is temporarily greater than what the pump can produce
Wow I loved how you summarised everything at the end you are a super legend
Hello,
Can you kindly guide me that from any VFD which has output of 3-Phase 220V, can we handle speed control of 30V 6KW 3-Phase AC Motor with full torque?
good man
in the section "dc to ac inverter" why the motor doesn't change the rotation direction even when the voltage is in negative signe
This is korea. Thanks a lot!!
^^
Sir your video is wonderful
Why first convert AC to DC and DC to AC sir
Ok I got it. I just want to ask
If suppose for a 5hp 3ph motor I use 10hp VFD will the electricity savings still be the same as a 5hp VFD??
I have 4 motors of 220v 50hz using VFD to convert 60hz is it possible to use 1 VFD into 4 motors?
Many thanks for knowledge sharing. My question is, can VFD motor runs directly ? in cause of VFD is out of order
Im only 16 so pls ignore my stupidity if Im asking a ridiculous question. My question is, are VFDs are also rechargeable batteries?
i think anything i found it at you
tube
i have a question,my question is the vfd can use for brushed motors or no?
Thank you. Helps me a lot in understanding what is VFD.
vfd controls the speed of the motor by converting AC to DC then back to AC with different frequency and it can be wired to plc to make the task automatic and get rid of a stupid operator! can't find any easier and straightforward explanation… GREAT JOB
Please make video on pulse width modulation. For example, sending pulse from rotary encoder to vfd.
very informative!!!
嬉しい
It is Awesome sir nice .
