Solder using a heat gun
|Solder using a heat gun
Here I use a Dewalt heat gun to melt a solder ring fitting, this is often much safer than using a blow torch which has a naked flame. It does take more time using the heat gun but this is to be expected due to the heat output of the heat gun. Brought to you by http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk

Thank you, I was breaking my brain about using a torch because the pipe is 6" off the floor with a rug, but I have one of these so now I'm going to find the attachment and be able to change the valve to a level in confidence.
Hi Ultimate Handyman, what type of paste were you brushing around the joints of the pipe prior to fitting them into each others? Thanks
1:18 did he just said hes going to "eats up the joint"? the heat from the heat gun eats up copper? I had no idea, but wouldnt that create leaks on the copper pipes?
in the US is now illegal to use lead to solder copper water pipes since January 2015 I believe
Did the flux contained soldering?
I always wanted to try this method.
mr lancashire
Could you do this using silver solder?
too slow….
It's a capillary fitting, Yorkshire are a brand of capillary fitting, there are many more, Peerless or flow-flex for example but Yorkshire (yorkie) are by far the best
I suppose it would have done the job a lot quicker if you didn't have the copper pipe in the vice. As the vice would be taking a lot of the heat, instead of the pipe.
Manchester no doubt
£70.00 for the torch, but how much for the heat gun and what model was it?
Or you can get a flame shield and use the blowtorch 😀 This method is kinda slow and if you have a lot of joints to make I don't think the customer will be too happy spending 2 mins per joint when the torch will do it in 20 seconds.
Can this technique be used to desolder? As in remove an existing fitting that has been soldered onto a copper pipe. Thanks
can we use it with aluminum pipes?
Awesome, never knew that would work, do all heat guns get hot enough?

Fire control is certainly much essie.
Someone should invent an electrical induction coil you just wrap around the pipe, switch on and hey presto instant joint
Great idea, thanks for the video! I wonder if it would work with an ordinary fitting and solder???
What is the diameter of the pipe, that is being soldered?
Could you get away with using an 80 grit sandpaper, to clean out the pipe and pipe fittings?
Nah fuck that waste of money. Get that torch and solder it in secs.
How hot does the gun get? What temperature is ideal?
Have you tried the Electric Antex Professional soldering kit? Would be good to get a decent review from someone like yourself.
