No check valve? How do you keep air out?
There is a check valve in brake master cylinder, which is serving as hydraulic piston pump. Hose is connected to bleeder valve and sealed by grease to keep air out. Middle part of the hose is risen to form gooseneck. So air bubbles from brake hydraulic system will go up in the hose and trapped in that gooseneck, to prevent air bubbles coming back into hydraulic system. The other end of hose is lowered and immersed into a bottle filled with used brake fluid, prevents outside air enters the hose.
