Don't forget to let them know if the pulley is press-fit it could affect timing and wreck your engine by loosening the pulley with the engine rotating. I e Mazda. and can affect timing. Such as smashed and broken valves.
How about a Saturn LS 2000, video, showing how to change the crankshaft seal. Thanks. Alberto
Now that was a cool trick.
Would this also work for the lower idler pulley
This helped a lot to remove the bolt on a Jeep TJ 4.0 six cylinder…saved a lot of headache! Just be sure to disconnect the ignition / ugly Jeep 4.0 coil rail so the spark plugs do NOT fire. Thanks Scotty!
I need someone to put a balancer on for me. Do you do that?
I am trying to do this on my 99 vette. It's an auto and the shop manual says I need to torque the bolt to 250 ft lbs. That turns the engine over. So while this will work for removal, I will still have to pull the starter and lock the flexplate to torque the bolt back down.
on most cars you can easily get to the pulley with a impact wrench by removing the front right wheel and wheel well padding around where the shocks are.
Would this trick work on a 1995 Honda accord ex?
Thanks Scotty
That’s a flippin great trick. Love your videos.
How do you torque it back up then?
can doing this damage the starter?
I threw up at the Parthenon in Greece, about 1984 because of the heat.
Wow, just wow. Thats all I can say
or just use a 1/2 in ratchet
and what is the trick, if you have extracted it with puller puller
What are the chances that an 02 xterra is the same thing im working on when i looked for this video.
So effing dangerous.
Yep, just did the breaker bar method on my 2004 Buick Regal 3800 motor.
Yes it worked like a charm. But I should have thought about setting off the fuel pump switch. I bumped it once, but the second time the engine caught. I shut down asap. It spun the bolt right out. Thanks Scotty, I've learned a lot of great tricks from you keep up the good work!
I have an 87 honda accord and my crank spins ccw so how would this work for me? I almost attempted it then realised if I had then I would have only tightened it more
Sir you saved me a long hard losing battle cranked the engine twice and it was loose thank you sir!
How do you open a camshaft pulley without a special tool
Awful idea.
Well that made it super easy! Thanks!
OMG Scotty your a saint ! Just watched another video and the guy was fighting for ever and he said Honda Civic tightens them to 180lbs Thanks Scotty Your the Best!
Nice trick will that work on Honda crank bolts?
How do you tighten the crankshaft pulley back up, Scotty?
Wow,, pretty irresponsible cominf from someone with so much experience. How about you replace this video with one showing the correct tool that holds the pulley from turning. Pretty simple concept. Get the tool so you don't damage anything. I'd love to see you try this method on a V8 engine and film it while your at it….
Okay I have a question and I need help, so I found a car that I want to buy it's a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT but I'm not sure if I should buy it because they told me it's Run's and works everything runs on it but it won't run for very long because the alternator pulley doesn't want to turn, so I'm wondering if I should just buy a whole new alternator and I'm good to go or should I just not buy the car please let me know ASAP!
This guy is fuckin' hilarious!!
