http://www.ted.com Eythor Bender of Berkeley Bionics brings onstage two amazing exoskeletons, HULC and eLEGS — robotic add-ons that could one day allow a human to carry 200 pounds without tiring, or allow a wheelchair user to stand and walk. It’s a powerful onstage demo, with implications for human potential of all kinds.

Our government should invest in these kinds of technologies not investing in war machines
I designed lesser complicated suite like this in 2003 for my grandad who had a stroke. I did a complete assembly in Autodesk Inventor using parts from the hardware store, relays and limit switches. I pretty much got laughed at an my professors told me that I would give my grand dad muscle strains. I gave up and quit. I should have never listened and I have no Idea where those files are now.He died in 2010. Now we have Arduinos and make controllers I would have completed @ around $500.
Tenio latev
Time for power armor.
humans we are not fucking robots all you are doing is giving robots jobs you fucking muppets
AWESOME!
My questions though is what happens if the Vet gets injured while carrying and the machine stops working and the load is unbearable. This was my first thought. A total robot should carry loads like that don't you think?
Classic response from "professors" of indoctrination and compartmentalization.
"Professors" who know not what education is.
"Professors" who ignorantly keep the sheep in line.
PUBLIC FOOL SYSTEM IS BASED UPON PRUSSIAN schools from the late 1800's AKA KINDER-GARDEN designed to produce & develop cannon fodder.
Winston Churchill said: "My education was interrupted only by my schooling"
See what Charlot Iserby and John Taylor Gatto document on the subject,
and great new movie, "STATE OF MIND".
That is fantastic, I love the way technology is advancing..
Get out of here STALKER.
His name is Bender and he works with robots? Awesome
Thank you Technology
now i can see myself on the summit of mt everest
While this looks like an amazing piece of technology, anyone watching this should keep in mind that the soldiers who have to carry 100 pounds on their backs will never actually get to use this for one simple reason; you can NOT go prone with this thing. This would have great implications in loading planes but in actual combat where the soldier has to get as low as possible as quick as possible, this most likely won't be used.
Unfair advantage really
So now it can be marketed to the military and assist in the production of more paralyzed persons. One hopes the general public will benefit more.
Wouldn't Mechs be suitable for defense and offence or even for lifting for heavy duty? You people who watch what you call anime would probely agree of making mechs, but however you only want mechs to exist because of watching anime to see something created in real life from Fiction would be exciting to you. In somewhat I agree, I know there are people out there who dont watch anime or dont know what it is, but heard and know what a mech is which is a giant person like piloted machine.
For you people who think Mechs would be a bad idea you maybe don't have a wide mind meaning you think only of what could take a mech down and dont think of the possibilities around it. I've been researching alot, people say mechs would be bad because a rpg could make it fall or it woud be too slow and would get damaged alot because of its low speed. I know this would sound funny, but when you watch all different kind of anime involving Mechs you learn that not all of them are like gundam arent they? So here is the basic idea of what most people say for a mech idea.
It would have to walk on two feet and of course be bulletproof and able to pick up heavy debri or cargos and the cockpit be tricked with computer screens some that would be your eyes screen meaning you would be able too look outside from all around.
And the others montering you mechs vital and able too send out video and audio transmission and recieve also. Because people think mech would be like gundam it wouldnt work and i agree. but you limit yourself to only that. I agree of the basic idea of mech, but it would be stupid for it to walk if it were to that in real combat it would be taken down for sure and also the mech doesnt have to be giant size like how you would imagine it to be and also it would be dumb to use weapons for the arms for the mech. Now heres my idea to be frank I dont care what you think of what I say is bad idea. Now my idea yes the Mech would have to bulletproof, but made from the lightest strongest metal to reduce weight.
Yes it would have to have computer programming in it. I would install two legs and the feets too, but wouldnt it look dumb running. I would install metal rotating balls underneath it to make it faster or install tires on the side of it like a car. Do you see where im going with this? Yes it would move alot faster and even more when add thrusters to boost it. Your probely thinking if why put that you mine as well leave it to be a tank. Well you see thats where your wrong.
Remember I said yes the mech would have moving legs wih feet with tires or metals ball on the side of it or underneath it to make move way fast? You know how we skate with rollerblades right again do you see where this is going? If a mech would have rollerblades for it use not literally speaking though and yes if what your thinking is the same as mine then your right it be able to dodge practically almost anything because of its speed and its use to turn swiflty fast or dodging do to the rollerblades.
Good thing we added eyes screen to be able to see whats coming at me so i can dodge it!! Now for the arms people think it would be cool to use machine guns as people say for arms for a mech it would be dumb because you wouldn't be able to lift anything or block from flying debri its common sense I mean you would want to use arms because you could equip it with a metal shield to block off weak missles right. Your think where would the weapons be then?
The mechs body could be altered for that like put a giant m16 attached to the shoulders you see what I mean use your imagination or you could make a giant version of a machine gun and the mechs hands to hold it like a human see smart right? One hand for shield and the other for sword.
People always think that the mech would be really huge like. The fact is it doesnt have to be godzilla size you can make it 10 feet or 9 6 doesnt have to be godzilla size as long as the cockpit fits along with the pilot it should be fine. People who love lalaland think and what if the mech is being shot at and the other says dont worry it has an energy shield its not possible to make that maybe in the future, but dont worry thats why you create metal oval shield to attach it to one of the arms to defend it from most things.
Thats what I would do for creating a mech sounds simple as long as you got the resoures and the money and time, effort, and teamwork its possible to create a mech I hope some use of my info would be great for those mech making companys. Tell me what do you think or options
she moved one of the legs herself then noticed her mistake and raised the other with her hand, check it out, it cld might as well be just a fraud and i bet she was fired after this
Science, bitches!
You guys should see the HAL suit in japan.
Bender is great
The woman moved her right leg…
3 years later, I never heard anything about this.
so can she skiing again using
that exoskeleton ?
She moved her legs in the weel chair
i have a feeling this could lead to something very close to call of duty advanced warfare
expensive ..but cool ..i want one when i m parralized ..but probably cant afford one….so for army …. i guesss..
Before Advanced Warfare: 2,000
After Advanced warfare: 131,466
How much does one cost
This is why I love technology.
It's functional but.. crude, bulky, and awkward. There's much room for improvement here.
cuando podremos tener acceso a ésta tecnología ? ???
00:16 Robotics EXPERT DUDE'S last name is: BENDER.. Bender, hoW FREAKING COOL IS THAT ?.. Bender,Just like the GREATEST ROBOT EVER Don Bender Rodriguez or Rodrigues of FUTURAMA fame.. Oh FAUX why would you cancel the GREATEST SHOW ever in the HISTORY OF EVERS ????.. THANKS A LOT OHBUMMER..!!!!OBAMA!!!!
advanced warfare
Not one clap from the liberal t*rds for the Marine that sacrifices his life for them, but the place erupts in cheers for same technology a minute later?
some people are just too stubborn and self absorbed to give a standing ovation .
